and is notably friendly and approachable.
Dear Christians, parishioners,
Starting February 15, trams will no longer run via the Westermarkt.
This is temporary. When they will resume is not 100% certain.
We announce this with the intention of allowing you to adjust your travel method and time accordingly.

Once again we had the honor of conducting the Sacrament Procession from our church with Bishop Hendriks.
It was the first time with a completely new team and we are grateful to our predecessors, Mgr van der Ploeg and Jos Witteman, that they left behind a well-oiled machine.
Italian and Suriname community members participated along with our Orthodox brothers and sisters.
Here are pictures and videos taken by friends and parishioners.
On May 12, the bishop came to administer the sacrament of Confirmation to fifteen people -young and not so young.
It was an impressive celebration that, as the bishop describes, was very international
"I was in the Church of Our Lady on Keizersgracht to give Holy Confirmation to young people from the English-speaking community. However, the candidates came from many different countries, such as Brazil, Italy, Spain and others."
click here for Msgr. Hendriks' blog. The celebration was in English.
And here for a photo reportage taken by parents and parishioners.
On Sunday the 26th of May we celebrated the First Holy Communion of two groups of children.
The Dutch-speaking children at 11.15 and the English-speaking ones at 15.00 h.

I would like to share with you this wonderful article written by experienced parents:
Sometimes at the end of Mass a parishioner comes up to us and says “Your three children are SO well behaved!” Our standard response is either, “Thank you. We work at it” or “Thank you, some days are better than others.” The “better” days are the product of years of articles and brochures we read on taking children to Mass. Here is the distilled wisdom we rely upon.
Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25, we celebrate the feasts of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
On Friday, Masses are at 12:15 and at 7:30 pm in the chapel (218B).
On Saturday, Mass is at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
Some people who attended sent these pictures and videos. (See the city and the church)
With thanks to the Syrian Orthodox Community you may follow the whole procession that was sent as live-stream.
You can listen to the audio of the homily:
The Holy Spirit and our own spiritual life; this one is in Dutch for a great part.
The Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; this one fully in English.
On Palm Sunday, a small TV crew came to make a recording of the church as part of a program about traveling in Europe.
After they had been to Nicholas Parish and Chalk Mountain, they came to see us. The result is beautiful, I think. You can now judge for yourself,
An impression on a Sunday evening on the Keizersgracht
The procession with the Blessed Sacrament through the center of Amsterdam has become a tradition, interrupted for two years, due to well-known reasons.
In 2004, the procession moved along the canals for the first time since 1578 under great interest and since then it has always been celebrated with great devotion.
The Church of Our Lady - Mother of God (Keizersgracht 220), together with the Syrian Orthodox Church, is organizing another procession together with other Orthodox clergy and faithful on Sacrament's Day, June 19, marching through the city with the Blessed Sacrament. You are most welcome to attend.
Program Sunday, June 19:
11.15 Solemn Eucharist in Our Lady's Church
12.30 Sacramental Procession along the ring of canals
13.30 Solemn Liturgy in Our Lady's Church at the end of the service
14.00 Social gathering in the hall next to the church
